A Bit About Me

My journey toward standing behind a chair really began in the state of Washington. My dad became friends with one of the most prominent barbers in Spokane. He became my barber and really curated an alternative culture within his shop that I knew I had to spend my life around. It was an eclectic mix of the punk rock DIY lifestyle, with a splash of elegance and precise grooming. I used my senior project in school as an excuse to job shadow him for a day to see what being a real barber was all about. The insight, and entrepreneurship really gripped me and helped me understand that my destiny was to be self employed.

I strayed away from the industry as college took me in another direction. After school, I was unhappy and unfulfilled for a number of years until I began a journey of self discovery. This journey brought me to Houston, Texas. I remember sitting on the floor of my apartment with no direction, no intent, no ambition and a unquenchable thirst for liberty. I called my mom for some wisdom and she talked me in to attending a course for barbering to see if it was for me.

That's exactly what I did. I found the first school I could afford and made the decision to never listen to any of those that told me "you won't be any good", or "you're going to fail". I enrolled in a trade program where I met so many other fellow barbers that were starting out just like me. I funded my education by learning screen printing. I spent 10 hours of my days in a screen printing shop and would go to class in the evening. After 1500 hours of theory, practice, lessons, mistakes, days wanting to bail, uncertainty, sweat, blood and tears, I completed my program.

I knew if i was going to make it anywhere, Los Angeles was going to be where I wanted to make my mark. I am now a California licensed barber and I am back with a vengeance to get this entire city in to my chair. Book with me and find out what a SE Texas barber can bring to The Golden State.

Now that you know  my story, id love to hear yours.
